4 weeks out
- Confirm your new Ejari is being processed
- Check your current and new building's move-in/move-out rules and required notice period
- Get a fixed quote from your moving company based on actual inventory, not a phone estimate
- Start using up perishables and anything that can't be moved (aerosols, gas canisters)
2 weeks out
- Book the freight lift or service elevator slot with both buildings, this is separate from booking your movers
- Order packing materials if you're packing yourself, or confirm your movers are supplying them
- Submit any required move-in/move-out deposit or NOC paperwork to building management
- Start a room-by-room declutter, donation or resale, don't pay to move things you won't unpack
1 week out
- Confirm the exact move day time slot with both your movers and both buildings
- Begin packing non-essential rooms (guest room, storage, off-season items)
- Schedule DEWA transfer for your new address, and disconnection for your old one
- Label boxes by room, not just contents, it speeds up placement on the other end
Move day
- Do a final walkthrough of the old apartment, check under beds and behind doors
- Confirm meter readings for DEWA if required by your building
- Keep essentials (chargers, medication, a change of clothes) in a bag that doesn't go on the truck
- Get a signed inventory or delivery confirmation once everything is unloaded
